It’s that time of the year again when AmCham Azerbaijan starts its Annual National Employee Salary Survey. This is the 10th year we are conducting this survey which now is the biggest in the country - the number of participants is constantly growing with 107 largest companies in Azerbaijan participating last year!

The survey gives a detailed report on terms of employment and benefits provided by the leading foreign and local companies and organizations operating in Azerbaijan as well as remuneration figures for more than hundred different positions.

It was our pleasure to host our last Monthly Members’ Luncheon for this season. Our Special Guest Speaker was Mr. Hans Gutbrod. Dr. Gutbrod, who made a brief presentation illuminating relevant and interesting results from the Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC)  Data Initiative project. In its fourth year, CRRC's Data Initiative is a comprehensive data gathering endeavor allowing those interested deep insights into social, political and economic developments in Azerbaijan relative to other countries in the region.

INFLATION SURVEY JULY 2008

In the 2nd quarter of 2008 the AAIP rose by 3.74 percent for Azerbaijani consumers and 3.66 for Expatriate consumers. The largest upward effect on the AAIP rate came from Non durable household goods, Pharmaceutical Products and Personal Hygiene and Sugar and Sweets where CPI rose by 12.25%, 6.93% and 6.4% respectively. The only downward effect on the AAIP rate came from Fruits & Vegetables where CPI went down by 1.95% due to seasonal affects. For comparison, in the 2nd quarter of 2006 CPI for Fruits & Vegetables went down by 16.14%, in 2007 by 3.3%.

INFLATION SURVEY APRIL 2008

Over the last year (the base is 100 at 31 March 2007) the AAIP rose by 32.85 percent for Azerbaijani consumers and 28.90 for Expatriate consumers. From the 1st quarter of 2006 (the base is 100 at 31 March 2006) the AAIP rose by 72.03 percent for Azerbaijani consumers and 69.05 for Expatriate consumers. In the 1st quarter of 2008 the AAIP rose by 7.98 percent for Azerbaijani consumers and 7.35 for Expatriate consumers.
