As a natural avenue for sharing information among AmCham members, the Committee aims to raise the level of awareness of issues in Health, Safety and Environment areas, and to share best practices with interested AmCham members by providing training sessions and holding seminars. To that end, the Committee has completed a series of training sessions on road safety (2006) and office safety (2007) for both oil and non-oil and gas sector key managers responsible for HSE issues in their respective organizations. The committee maintains and develops a strong external network with the government of Azerbaijan, in particular with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Road Police and the Ministry of Health. Within our social activities agenda, school safety program was delivered for children from a number of schools in Baku (2006).
We strive to identify the areas of concern among AmCham member organizations and better understand the issues raised by the government of Azerbaijan. For this purpose, the Committee develops and distributes questionnaires (normally at AmCham luncheons or online), holds open meetings for non-Committee members to allow for a broader forum, organizes regular meetings with the governmental bodies and invites them to HSE meetings and AmCham luncheons as guest speakers.
