AmCham held its Annual General Assembly at the February Member’s Luncheon. Four out of ten members of 2010-2011 AmCham Board of Directors were elected by AmCham members, with voting taking place during the luncheon and election results were announced immediately afterwards. We would like to congratulate Alum Bati, Wicklow Corporate Services, Dan Matthews, Baker & McKenzie,  and Movlan Pashayev, Pricewaterhouse Coopers Azerbaijan with their re-election and Teyba Gouliyeva, Societe Generale on board!

The American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan has reached the agreement with the State Migration Service. We have received final confirmation from SMS that the companies listed below will be allowed to submit application forms on behalf of their clients provided that both companies are members of AmCham Azerbaijan:

The AmCham ICT Committee meeting took place on February 23rd, 2010. During the meeting presentation on topic “The real cost of illegal software” was made by the representative of Microsoft Azerbaijan Mr. Eldar Djangirov. As it was noted software piracy is the mislicensing, unauthorized reproduction and illegal distribution of software, whether for business or personal use.

The AmCham Tax and Customs Committee members gathered together on the 9th of February, 2010. The topic of the meeting was a discussion of the new agenda/plan for 2010. 

 

The meeting started with a 15 min presentation by Baker & McKenzie. Aykhan Asadov made a presentation on New Tax Treaties. The meeting went on by a presentation on New Tax Code by Arzu Hajiyeva, Ernst & Young. The last presentation was on Audit by SSF, where Zaur Kasumov, British-American Tobacco, spoke to members about their company experience.
