In the absence of reliable data, AmCham Azerbaijan has established its own CPI index. Initially, changes in the AmCham Azerbaijan Index of Prices (AAIP) will be reported on a quarterly basis.Over the last year (the base is 100 at 31 December 2008) the AAIP rose by 6.71 percent for Azerbaijani consumers and 7.13 for Expatriate consumers. In the 4th quarter of 2009 the AAIP rose by 2.42 percent for Azerbaijani consumers and 2.83 for Expatriate consumers. The largest upward effect on the AAIP rate came from Fruits & Vegetables where Index of Prices rose by 25.77 percent.
