The AmCham ICT Committee meeting took place on February 23rd, 2010. During the meeting presentation on topic “The real cost of illegal software” was made by the representative of Microsoft Azerbaijan Mr. Eldar Djangirov. As it was noted software piracy is the mislicensing, unauthorized reproduction and illegal distribution of software, whether for business or personal use. The representatives of Microsoft Azerbaijan asked ICT committee members to present their vision of current situation with usage of piracy and counterfact software and give their recommendations about possible ways of solving this problem. Igor Yakovenko proposed to place information related to this issue in mass-media and to write a letter to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies and the National Bank of Azerbaijan and inform them about situation with software piracy.
